Why help?

Neurodevelopment & Disability, through our research and partnerships, is committed to building a better understanding of the causes of disability and how to improve outcomes for children with disabilities and prevent them.

The physical, emotional and financial costs for parents of children with disabilities are ongoing and immeasurable. Care is usually complex and life long, involving services from a variety of sectors including health, education and local government. The costs in terms of additional family breakdowns are also large. Prevention of disability, even in only 1-2 cases each year, would result in substantial benefits for families and the community.

Neurodevelopment & Disability has a proven track record and is in a very strong position to make further advances that will assist children with a disability and their families. Unfortunately research grants from government and non-government agencies do not fully cover the cost of research. We therefore rely on the financial support of the wider community to assist us in meeting our goals.

Solve^@RCH is the name we use for the research work we do in Neurodevelopment & Disability, with our research partners The University of Melbourne and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute. Solve^@RCH has an advisory panel that includes committed community leaders, including those with a family member with a disability, prominent hospital supporters and representatives from RCH and partner organisations.

Participate in Research Studies

We are continually learning about developmental disorders and improving management, treatment and services. To contribute to this body of knowledge, Neurodevelopment and Disability conducts and supports wide-ranging research studies together with our Campus partners the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne.
